France, Syria discuss oil, gas sector cooperation
France’s chargé d’affaires in Syria, Jean-Baptiste Faivre, has met Youssef Kablawi, the director general of the Syrian Petroleum Company in Damascus, where the sides discussed the development of Syria’s oil and gas sector, as well as prospects for potential cooperation with French companies in the industry.
Sharing a post on X, Faivre said the talks focused on possible areas of engagement in the energy sector, Caliber.Az reports.

On May 28, 2025, the EU lifted most sectoral economic sanctions on Syria, paving the way for renewed business ties with European countries.
Previous sanctions covered a wide range of sectors, including banking and finance, energy, transport, and certain imports and exports.
