France to summon Russian ambassador over alleged cyber campaign

French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot announced on Monday, July 13, that France will summon Russia’s ambassador and impose sanctions on individuals and entities allegedly linked to Russian cyber activities.
Speaking on BFMTV-RMC, Barrot referred to what he described as a “large-scale cyber campaign aimed at sabotage and espionage, conducted by Russia in a dozen European countries.”
He said that the Russian ambassador to France would be summoned in the coming days and announced sanctions against nine individuals and four legal entities allegedly connected to the cyber operations.
