French official refuses to join new government, says it "won't last long"
Bruno Retailleau, the outgoing French Interior Minister and leader of the right-wing Republicans party, has announced that he will not be joining the newly formed government under Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu, who has been reappointed to lead the Republic.
According to Le Figaro, Retailleau made the announcement during a video conference with his supporters. He stated that the Republicans should not participate in the new government, and made it clear that he himself would not be part of the cabinet. Retailleau also expressed strong skepticism about the future of the administration, predicting that it would not last long, Caliber.Az reports.
His stance was echoed by Gérard Larcher, a senior member of the Republicans and President of the French Senate, who also voiced opposition to the party’s involvement in the Lecornu government.
