Futuristic fraud: DOGE reveals unemployment claims, including $41K from a 2154 birthdate
The Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) has uncovered startling findings in its initial survey of unemployment insurance claims since 2020, revealing significant issues with eligibility and fraud.
According to a statement by the Department of Government Efficiency on X, 24,500 people over 115 years old claimed $59 million in benefits, Caliber.Az reports.
Moreover, 28,000 people between 1 and 5 years old claimed $254 million in benefits, and 9,700 people with birthdates over 15 years in the future claimed $69 million in benefits,
In one particularly extraordinary case, an individual with a birthdate in the year 2154 was found to have claimed $41,000.
The department has indicated it is investigating these anomalies urgently, citing concerns about the misallocation of taxpayer funds, especially in light of President Donald Trump’s previous promises to deliver significant savings to the federal government.
The investigation comes after DOGE’s actions caused a temporary crash of the Social Security Administration (SSA) website earlier this week.
DOGE has vowed to hold responsible parties accountable and recover the misallocated funds as it continues its probe into widespread inefficiencies within the system.
To recall, DOGE was established by President Donald Trump through Executive Order 14158 on January 20, 2025. Its primary goal is to modernize federal technology and software to enhance governmental efficiency and productivity.
Elon Musk was appointed to lead DOGE with the mandate to streamline government operations, reduce bureaucracy, and cut wasteful expenditures.
The initiative draws parallels to past efforts like the Grace Commission under President Ronald Reagan, aiming for significant cost savings and regulatory reforms.
