Israel's outgoing ambassador to Azerbaijan, George Deek, has expressed profound gratitude to Azerbaijan for its heartfelt commemoration of a solemn day of remembrance, highlighting the enduring friendship between Azerbaijan and Israel.
Speaking on this occasion, the ambassador acknowledged Azerbaijan’s historical role in promoting tolerance and safeguarding its Jewish community, in a post on X, Caliber.Az reports.
“We are profoundly grateful for Azerbaijan’s dedication to the principle of ‘Never Again,’ and for the enduring friendship between our nations,” Ambassador Deek stated.

He emphasized the deep respect Israel holds for Azerbaijan’s unwavering commitment to ensuring that Jews have always been safe and felt at home in this land.
The ambassador also paid tribute to the 300,000 Azerbaijanis who sacrificed their lives in the fight against Nazism, recognizing their immense contribution to global peace.
"With deep respect, we honour the memory of those who gave their lives, and we thank Azerbaijan for standing with us on this solemn occasion," he added.
Ambassador Deek further noted the kindness and solidarity shown by the people of Azerbaijan toward Israel, particularly over the past year. “The kindness and solidarity of Azerbaijan’s people deeply touch our hearts,” he said, reaffirming the strong bond shared by the two nations.
