Georgian PM claims EU-friendly country uses Abkhazia route to Russia
Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has alleged that a certain “pro-European country,” which is neither a member of the European Union nor a neighbour of Georgia, is using the territory of occupied Abkhazia to transit goods into Russia.
“Actually, everyone knows everything… They use Abkhazia to send specific products for export to Russia, and this is a pro-European country, while at the same time Georgia is being called anti-European and pro-Russian,” Kobakhidze said, as Caliber.Az reports per Armenian media.
The prime minister did not specify which country he was referring to, nor did he provide details on the type of goods or the routes allegedly used. He also did not indicate whether Georgian authorities possess evidence supporting the claim.
There have been no previous public statements from Georgian officials confirming such transit schemes, nor have any diplomatic protests been announced in connection with the allegations.
