German defence chief says his household ready for crisis
German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius has revealed that he keeps emergency food and water supplies at home, saying he is personally prepared for the possibility of a crisis.
In an interview with Der Spiegel, Pistorius was asked how prepared he is for a potential war and whether he has stockpiled essential supplies.
"My wife and I would be able to manage without problems for several days. Above all, we made sure we had a sufficient supply of water," he said.
His remarks come as German authorities continue efforts to encourage the public to prepare for potential emergencies, including the possibility of an armed conflict.
The Federal Office of Civil Protection an Disaster Assistance (BBK) has previously issued guidance recommending that households maintain emergency reserves of food, drinking water and other essential supplies in the event of war or other major crises.
