German official accuses Russia of never taking Ukraine peace talks seriously

German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius has stated that Russia has never seriously engaged in peace negotiations over Ukraine.

Speaking after a meeting of the Ramstein Contact Group, he said that is precisely why it is even more important to continue supporting Ukraine, Caliber.Az reports, citing Ukrainian media.

“The so-called Russian–Ukrainian peace talks are currently suspended. But the truth is that Russia has never taken them seriously,” Pistorius noted.

He also criticised what he described as “short-sighted actions of certain countries,” which he said have allowed Russia’s budget to benefit from the war in the Middle East.
