German FM: Regional security can only be achieved through Hezbollah’s disarmament

German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul stated on April 16 that regional security can only be achieved through Hezbollah’s disarmament.

He said long-term agreements are now needed to ensure border security, protect civilians on both sides of the Blue Line, and guarantee the safety of UNIFIL (United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon) peacekeepers, Caliber.Az reports, citing the AP.

The minister welcomed the ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon and thanked the United States for its mediating role.

He said the talks had paved the way for a future in which the interests of both sides are equally taken into account — Israel’s legitimate security interests and Lebanon’s right to territorial integrity and sovereignty.
