Germany increases deliveries of strike drones to Ukraine
The German company Helsing is scaling up production of the combat drone HX-2 and supplying the aircraft to Ukraine; successful test results and plans for serial production make the model a notable contender on the tactical UAS market.
According to Defense Express, industry sources say Ukraine has placed two orders totalling 10,000 HX-2 units, and Helsing intends to raise production to 2,500 drones per month.
That volume indicates the project is moving into mass‑production and being rapidly integrated into frontline logistics.
During comparative trials in Germany, the HX-2 was the only drone among three manufacturers to repeatedly reach its target — recording 17 successful launches in a row.
Over the past two years the company conducted weekly flights of 30 units to refine the system and airframe, which analysts say explains the high rate of successful outcomes.
The HX-2 can engage targets at ranges of up to 100 km, reaches speeds of up to 220 km/h, weighs about 12 kg, and carries warheads of up to 4 kg.
The aircraft is fitted with four engines and autonomous navigation systems, including the ability to operate without GNSS by matching maps and images. The operator confirms the target before the strike.
