Germany signals possible path to conflict resolution if Ukraine skips NATO

German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul suggested that Russia might be willing to accept a Ukrainian decision to forgo NATO membership.

Wadephul stressed, however, that Moscow would still need to acknowledge that European countries would continue providing support to Ukraine, Bild reports.

He further noted that such a step by Kyiv could enhance its leverage in negotiations and contribute to achieving a political resolution to the ongoing conflict.

The statement comes amid ongoing discussions in Europe regarding potential pathways to peace and security in the region, reflecting Berlin’s interest in exploring pragmatic solutions while maintaining backing for Ukraine.
