Germany summons Russian ambassador over drone incursions into Poland
The German Foreign Ministry has summoned Russian Ambassador Sergei Nechayev in response to an incident involving drones entering Polish airspace, the ministry announced on its social media account.
“Today, the Russian ambassador was summoned to the Federal Foreign Office. NATO is united in defending the territory of our North Atlantic Alliance and our security,” the statement said, according to Caliber.Az.

German officials added that Moscow’s actions, allegedly involving the deployment of Russian drones into NATO airspace, are “dangerous and unacceptable.”
The drone incident prompted similar actions by other European countries. Russian diplomats were also summoned by the foreign ministries of Finland, Sweden, the Czech Republic, the Netherlands, and Spain.
On Wednesday, September 10, Poland reported that its forces had shot down 19 foreign drones over the country. Prime Minister Donald Tusk described the situation as involving a “huge number of Russian drones,” while the country’s armed forces called the event an “act of aggression.”
The Russian Defence Ministry stated that no strikes on targets in Poland had been planned and offered to hold consultations with the Polish military regarding the incident.
NATO has not yet determined whether the drone incursions were intentional.
Russia’s chargé d’affaires in Poland, Andrei Ordash, dismissed Warsaw’s accusations as “groundless and unsubstantiated.”
