Germany to provide Ukraine with AIM-9L guided missiles
Germany has renewed its list of military aid to Ukraine for the first time during a month.
The new package includes one air defence system each of IRIS-T SLM and IRIS-T SLS, eight Leopard 1A5 tanks, and 20 Marder infantry fighting vehicles. The preparation is underway for the delivery of AIM-9L guided missiles and drones, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
The new package also features Sea Sparrow guided missiles, six Panzerhaubitze 2000 self-propelled howitzers, ammunition for Leopard 1, Leopard 2 tanks, and Marder infantry fighting vehicles, as well as missiles for the IRIS-T SLM system.
Other items include four MRAP armoured vehicles, 24,000 rounds of 155 mm artillery shells, and 30 Vector reconnaissance drones. Preparation is ongoing for the supply of AIM-9L guided missiles, 4,000 strike drones, 361 Songbird reconnaissance UAVs, two TRML-4D radar stations, 42,000 rounds of 40 mm ammunition, and winter clothing. Germany is the second-biggest supplier of arms to Ukraine, following the US.
To date, the Federal Republic of Germany has allocated funds for military support to Kyiv and committed to future expenditures amounting to approximately 28 billion euros ($30 billion). Under the budget agreement for 2025, Germany plans to allocate four billion euros ($4.3 billion) for military assistance to Ukraine, which is half the amount allocated this year.
