Greece marks 100th anniversary of Azerbaijani national leader’s birth PHOTO

The Azerbaijani State Committee for Work with Diaspora has said that an event on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the founder of independent Azerbaijan, outstanding politician and statesman Heydar Aliyev’s birth was held at the House of Azerbaijan in the Greek city of Thessaloniki.

While opening the event, the head of the “GALA” Greek-Azerbaijani Friendship Society and the House of Azerbaijan in Thessaloniki Rashid Mammadov, spoke about the life, significant and multifaceted political activity of the national leader of the Azerbaijani people, the State Committee for Work with Diaspora told Report.

While delivering a speech at the event, an expert in Turkology, Socrates Angelides spoke about the brilliant steps taken by Heydar Aliyev to create and strengthen independent Azerbaijan, shared his thoughts on the history of Azerbaijan.

A documentary film about the life and activity of Heydar Aliyev was shown at the end of the event.

According to the president’s order, 2023 has been declared the “Year of Heydar Aliyev” in Azerbaijan.
