Guadeloupe seeks international support against French colonialism
Patrick Tacita, Special Representative for International Cooperation of the National Alliance of Guadeloupe, told the American Bureau of Report news agency that France is trying to isolate the people of Guadeloupe from the outside world.
Tacita noted that the people of Guadeloupe have lived under French oppression for four centuries, with pro-independence advocates facing consistent pressure from Paris.
"Our Alliance is the political organization of the island of Guadeloupe that fights against colonialism and for independence. The situation in Guadeloupe is very difficult. We don't produce anything, and if we do, everything goes to France. We hope for the international community, but France is trying to isolate us from the outside world," he said.
He emphasized that the people of Guadeloupe are striving to seize every opportunity to gain sovereignty.
"France has achieved its current power thanks to our lands. Colonial territories aside, France is a small country and the world should know that. We have rich resources, and that is why France does not want to leave our territory," Tacita said.
Tacita also highlighted their reliance on international support, particularly from Azerbaijan. "We ask for your help. The whole world knows you, and we want the whole world to know about our problems through you. We want to be independent like other countries. This is very important for us," he added.
