HAVELSAN's "digital troops" gearing to take on field VIDEO

Türkiye's defence firm Havelsan is planning "digital troops," integrating Turkish-made unmanned aerial, land and surface vehicles under the umbrella of autonomous robotic systems for joint military operations, to take on the field this year.

HAVELSAN, the company that worked on the swarm, unveiled its "digital unity" concept for the first time at the 15th International Defence Exhibition (IDEF 2021), Caliber.Az reports, citing DefenseHere.com.

Speaking to Anadolu, Havelsan General Manager Mehmet Akif Nacar said examples of digital troop concepts would be revealed this year.

"It's time for Barkan [unmanned ground vehicle], Baha [unmanned aerial vehicle], and Sancar [Unmanned Surface Vehicle] to show how they will work as a component of the digital troop on the field and the 'single soldier' will be positioned in a troop," Nacar said.

He added that the infrastructure works are still continuing.

Nacar stressed that Havelsan further developed the future of Barkan UGV and started its production.

"Once tests are completed, we will start mass production in the first half of this year," he explained.

Platforms on which HAVELSAN will participate in the concept of digital unity:

- The BAHA UAV can perform missions at an altitude of up to 15,000 feet, stay in the air for up to 6 hours with a gasoline engine (up to 2 hours with an electric motor) and has a flight range of up to 80 km. In addition, the VAN can carry a payload of up to 5 kg.

- The BARKAN 2 autonomous unmanned ground vehicle, thanks to its advanced autonomous functions, can easily carry out various tasks such as attack with various weapons, transport of equipment, transport of casualties, mine clearance, reconnaissance and surveillance.

- The KAPGAN heavy-duty autonomous unmanned ground vehicle is designed to accompany troops on various missions due to its high manoeuvrability, especially in harsh environmental conditions, and can easily perform various tasks.

- The armed unmanned sea boat SANCAR is designed for the autonomous performance of duties for the protection of ports/bases, search/rescue, reconnaissance, reconnaissance, surveillance, patrol, ground combat, and mine protection.
