Heavy fighting erupts in Syria’s Aleppo as Turkish army sends reinforcements
Clashes continue on the front lines in Syria's Aleppo province between fighters from the Syrian National Army (SNA) and the US-backed Kurdish Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), which is considered a terrorist organisation by Türkiye due to its links with the PKK/YPG.
According to the Syrian Observatory For Human Rights (SOHR), the fighting involves heavy weaponry and drones in Sad Teshrin (Dam) and Jisr Qarqozak (Bridge), located in eastern Aleppo, Caliber.Az reports per foreign media.
At the same time, the Turkish army continues sending reinforcements to the region.
Earlier, SDF launched a counteroffensive against Türkiye-backed SNA to reclaim territories near Syria’s northern border. Since the collapse of Bashar al-Assad's totalitarian regime earlier this month, clashes have escalated between the US-supported SDF and the SNA, which has taken control of the strategic city of Manbij and its surrounding areas.
These weeks-long clashes occur amid Syria's ongoing political negotiations following over a decade of conflict and economic hardship, and more than fifty years under the Assad family’s rule.
