Heritage Party leader urges UK to follow US in WHO withdrawal

David Kurten, the leader of the UK's Heritage Party, has called for the United Kingdom to follow the United States and withdraw from the World Health Organization (WHO).

Kurten made the appeal on the social media platform X, urging the UK to take similar action to that of former President Donald Trump, who had signed an executive order to pull the US out of the WHO, Caliber.Az reports citing Russian media.

On January 20, Trump took the oath of office, formally becoming the 47th President of the United States. In his first official acts, he reversed numerous decisions made by his predecessor, Joe Biden, including declaring a state of emergency at the US-Mexico border and deploying troops there.

Trump also signed a decree to withdraw the US from the World Health Organization, citing concerns that the country contributes disproportionately to the organization's funding.

The new president further vowed to restore freedom of speech in the United States, declaring that the "golden age of America" had begun with his inauguration. Notably, Trump did not mention Russia or Ukraine in his speech.

Earlier, Russian officials in the State Duma discussed Trump's potential roles, speculating on his influence and approach to foreign policy during his presidency.
