Hezbollah deploys new Shahed drones against Israel
14 July 2024 15:35
Hezbollah has started using new Shahed drones against Israel, which are more difficult to detect and shoot down.
The Iranian UAV, Shahed 101, is equipped with an electric motor and can carry a 10 kg warhead over a distance of up to 900 km, according to reports from Israeli media cited by Caliber.Az.
Until now, Hezbollah has used UAVs with internal combustion engines, commonly referred to as "mopeds" in Ukraine. These older drones are noisy and easily detected due to the heat emitted by their engines, making them visible to thermal imaging.
In contrast, the Shahed 101's electric motor operates silently and without generating significant heat, making it much harder to detect and intercept.
