Trump unveils “DADDY” T-shirt inspired by NATO chief’s lighthearted remark
On June 26, US President Donald Trump’s campaign launched a new limited-edition T-shirt featuring his mugshot and the word “DADDY” — a playful nod to a recent exchange with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.
The merchandise was promoted by the Trump National Committee Joint Fundraising Committee (JFC), which the president established alongside the Republican National Committee last year, Caliber.Az reports, citing American media.
Supporters can receive the shirt, available in orange or navy blue, in exchange for a $35 donation to the JFC.
In an email promoting the item, written in Trump’s voice, the committee said: “When Biden was President, we were LAUGHED at on the world stage. The whole world WALKED ALL OVER US! But thanks to your favorite President (ME!) we are respected once again. Please never forget that I wouldn’t be here without you. THANKS TO YOU, OUR COUNTRY IS RESPECTED AGAIN!”
The shirt references a humorous moment from a joint press conference between Trump and Rutte ahead of the NATO summit in The Hague. Trump had used an analogy comparing the conflict between Israel and Iran to a playground scuffle between children.
“They’ve had a big fight, like two kids in a schoolyard. You know, they fight like hell, you can’t stop them. Let them fight for about two, three minutes, then it’s easy to stop them,” Trump said.
In response, Rutte quipped, “Daddy has to sometimes use strong language to get it stopped,” referring to Trump’s earlier blunt comment about the situation in the Middle East, when he remarked that Israel and Iran “don’t know what the f–k they’re doing.”
Trump received a warm reception at the NATO gathering, praised both for his order to strike Iran’s nuclear facilities and for his continued push to raise NATO members’ defence spending targets to 5% of GDP by 2035.
