Hungarian UN official hails COP29 in Baku as "more than just a climate summit"

The outcomes of the 29th session of the UN Climate Change Conference (COP29) must be carried forward into the agenda of COP30, Hungarian UN General Assembly President Csaba Kőrösi has said.

Speaking on the second day of Baku Climate Week (BCAW2025), Kőrösi, who also serves as Secretary of State in the Hungarian Presidential Administration, described COP29 as a “considerable success” despite the many challenges it faced, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.

“I would like to once again congratulate Azerbaijan and the co-chairs on this achievement. COP29 was not just a climate summit,” he said.

Kőrösi added that the conference provided a significant impetus for sustainable development and a strong boost to global progress.

“This process is fundamentally linked to the future of our societies. To ensure the sustainability of the results achieved, it is crucial that the commitments made at COP29 are honoured.

He stated that the work completed and the outcomes achieved must be carried forward to COP30 and beyond, while exploring opportunities to further advance this transformation.
