Hungary’s Magyar vows to suspend “propaganda media network”
Hungarian opposition leader Péter Magyar has said that one of his first actions after forming the new government would be to suspend the news operations of what he described as a “propaganda media network”.
Magyar said he has not appeared in public broadcasting for about a year and a half, since September 2024, and described his current visibility as a result of his political mandate and voter support, Telex reports.
According to him, recent changes in public broadcasting are aimed at creating the impression of greater editorial independence, but he insisted that promised reforms would be implemented after the formation of a new government.
“After forming the government, one of our first steps will be to suspend the news operations of this propaganda media structure,” he said.
Magyar stressed that his position is not about personal revenge.
“This is not about me, but about ensuring that citizens deserve public broadcasting that reflects reality,” he added.
