IAEA working to prevent nuclear incident amid Ukraine war

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is working to prevent the war in Ukraine from triggering a nuclear incident, the agency’s Director General Rafael Grossi said during World Nuclear Week in Moscow.

Speaking to journalists on the sidelines of the event, Grossi stressed that the ongoing war posed risks to nuclear safety and required clear limits. He explained that the IAEA’s focus was not on the war itself but specifically on ensuring nuclear facilities and materials remained secure, Caliber.Az reports per Russian media. 

Grossi underlined that the priority was to avoid any incident that could endanger people or the environment as a result of the fighting.
