India extends airspace ban on Pakistani Airlines until June
India has extended its ban on the use of its airspace by Pakistani airlines and aircraft until June 23, 2025, official sources confirmed.
The extension, announced on May 23, prolongs the closure initially imposed on April 30 as part of a series of retaliatory measures following the Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives, Caliber.Az reports per Indian media.
The restriction applies not only to aircraft registered in Pakistan but also to planes operated, owned, or leased by Pakistani airlines and operators. A newly issued Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) confirms that Pakistan’s military aircraft are also subject to the ban.
This airspace closure was originally scheduled to expire on May 23 but has now been extended by an additional month in a move reflecting ongoing diplomatic tensions between the two neighboring countries.
In a reciprocal response, Pakistan has similarly prolonged its ban on Indian flights traversing its airspace until June 24. Pakistan initially closed its airspace to Indian aircraft on April 24, shortly after India suspended the Indus Waters Treaty between the two nations.
