15 August 2024 17:22
India's Ministry of Defence is going to sign a contract with the state-owned Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) for the production of AL-31 jet engines. These engines will be used for the Su-30MKI multirole twin-engine supersonic fighters of the Indian Air Force.
The contract will involve the full production cycle of approximately 230 engines over the next few years to replace existing engines that are nearing the end of their service life, Caliber.Az reports via Indian media.
The Indian Air Force requires a total of 950 new engines for the Su-30MKI fleet. The modernization program aims to upgrade these fighters with new engines, extending their operational lifespan until 2055.
