IndiGo halts flights to Baku, Tashkent, Almaty as Iran tensions escalate
Indian airline IndiGo has suspended flights to Tashkent, Almaty, Baku, and Tbilisi amid rising tensions in Iran.
In a post on the X platform, the airline indicated that, given the evolving situation in Iran, it has implemented further adjustments to its flight schedule to prioritise the safety and seamless service of passengers and crew, Caliber.Az reports.

“As part of these measures, IndiGo flights to and from Tbilisi, Almaty, Baku, and Tashkent have been cancelled until 28 February 2026. <…> As the situation continues to evolve, our plans remain under regular review. Any further updates or changes will be shared through our communication channels. We appreciate your patience, understanding, and continued trust,” the airline said.
The decision came as a surprise to many tourists and tourism industry representatives. It has raised concerns in the sector, as travel from India had been increasing.
Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Kazakhstan have actively invested in attracting tourists, modernising airport infrastructure, and developing cultural tourism, boosting the flow of foreign visitors, including from India.
According to the National Statistics Committee, Uzbekistan received 11.7 million foreign visitors in 2025, of which 80,800 were tourists from India.
