Iran denies plans for talks in Pakistan or Qatar, official says

30 July 2026 14:49

An informed Iranian official has denied reports that Tehran is planning to send a delegation to continue negotiations abroad, calling such claims unfounded.

Speaking to Nournews, the official rejected reports circulated by some regional media outlets suggesting that Iran was preparing to hold talks in Geneva, Doha or Islamabad.

“Reports about plans for an Iranian delegation to travel to Pakistan or Qatar to continue negotiations are completely false,” the official said, adding that there are no plans to dispatch a negotiating team to either country and that the speculation has no factual basis.

The official also addressed the status of indirect talks between Iran and Oman, saying negotiations had achieved relatively positive results after about a week of efforts. However, those discussions were put at risk of being derailed by what the official described as a recent provocative action by the U.S. Treasury Department.

According to the official, Washington’s actions contradict its stated intention to resolve tensions through diplomacy and have repeatedly complicated progress in the negotiations.
