Iran hits Qatar with 44 missiles, 8 drones over day

Qatar faced 44 missile and eight drone attacks from Iran on February 28.

The strikes marked Iran’s retaliation for recent actions by the United States and Israel, heightening tensions in the region, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.

The Iranian assault hit and damaged an early-warning radar in northern Qatar, the official added.

As the U.S. and Israel launched coordinated attacks on Iran early Saturday, Tehran responded with a wide-ranging missile campaign targeting U.S. interests across the Middle East. Iranian missiles struck facilities including Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait, Al Dhafra Air Base in the UAE, and the U.S. Fifth Fleet headquarters in Bahrain.

Several missiles were intercepted by Qatar, the UAE, and Jordan, though debris caused one death and property damage in Abu Dhabi. Saudi Arabia condemned Iran’s attacks as a violation of sovereignty and pledged support to affected nations.

Israel reported Iranian missile strikes across northern and central regions, including Haifa, Jerusalem, and Beit Shemesh. Minor injuries occurred, mostly while residents sought shelter. Airspace closures disrupted regional flights, with Qatar Airways and Emirates temporarily suspending operations.
