Iran internet blackout enters 42nd day amid tight restrictions
Iran’s nationwide internet blackout has entered its 42nd day, with disruptions now exceeding 980 hours, according to monitoring group NetBlocks.
Access to the global internet remains heavily restricted for the general public, who are largely confined to the country’s state-controlled National Information Network, a domestic system that limits connectivity to internal platforms and services, Caliber.Az reports via the group.
Reports indicate that a select group of users has been granted special access through a “whitelisting” system, allowing them to connect to international social media platforms. Observers say this has raised concerns about the potential for controlled messaging and the shaping of narratives reaching audiences outside Iran.
