Iran, Pakistan discuss ceasefire and regional stability in high-level meetings VIDEO

25 April 2026 16:34

Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi, who is visiting Islamabad for consultations with Pakistan’s top leadership, held talks with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, according to a statement released by the Iranian Foreign Ministry.

The meeting was also attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar. The sides discussed the development of bilateral relations, the expansion of cooperation across various sectors, as well as current regional and international issues, according to the statement by the Iranian Foreign Ministry.

Sharif reaffirmed the commitment of both countries to further strengthening ties and enhancing coordination both bilaterally and within international organisations. He expressed confidence that this course would continue in the interests of the two neighbouring states.

Araghchi, in turn, underscored the priority given by Iran’s leadership to strengthening relations with neighbouring countries, particularly Pakistan, and confirmed Tehran’s intention to further expand cooperation. He also expressed gratitude to Islamabad for its mediation efforts aimed at ending the conflict and facilitating the establishment of a ceasefire.

The Iranian foreign minister reiterated Tehran’s position on recent developments related to the ceasefire and condemned actions that Iran describes as aggression against it and a violation of regional stability. He also stressed the importance of Pakistan’s support for the Palestinian people and for the implementation of ceasefire agreements in Lebanon.

Earlier on Saturday morning, Araghchi also held talks with Asim Munir, Field Marshal and Chief of the Army Staff of Pakistan.

During that meeting, the sides discussed recent developments related to the ceasefire and the conclusion of what was described as a “war imposed by the US and the Zionist regime” against Iran. They also addressed issues of bilateral and regional cooperation aimed at strengthening peace and stability in West Asia.

Araghchi expressed appreciation to the Government of Pakistan and personally to Field Marshal Munir for supporting diplomatic efforts to establish the ceasefire. He also outlined Tehran’s position on the further implementation of the ceasefire agreements.

For his part, Munir thanked the Iranian side for its trust in Pakistan as a neighboring Muslim state and confirmed Islamabad’s readiness to continue mediation efforts until a final settlement is achieved.
