Iran’s MFA says strikes on Israel — self-defence, warns of further response
Iran’s Foreign Ministry said that recent strikes on military targets in Israel were carried out in self-defence, citing ongoing violations of a ceasefire and continued regional hostilities.
In a statement, the ministry said the action followed repeated violations of the April 8 ceasefire and renewed Israeli military operations against Lebanon and Iran, including attacks on Iranian ships and facilities, Caliber.Az reports.
The statement said Iran’s armed forces “struck several military targets in the north of the occupied Palestinian territories” on the evening of June 7, 2026, invoking Article 51 of the UN Charter, which allows for self-defence.
Iran also accused the United States of complicity in Israeli actions and said Washington bears responsibility for “escalation of tensions in the region,” including violations of the ceasefire agreement.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran warns that any malicious act by Israel against Lebanon or the Islamic Republic of Iran will be met with a crushing and comprehensive response,” the statement added.
