Iran says thousands left without water after US strikes on infrastructure
At least 20,000 residents in Iran’s Hormozgan province have been left without access to water following US strikes on water reservoirs, Hamzeh Pour, director-general of the provincial water and wastewater company, has stated.
He said the attacks destroyed key drinking water distribution infrastructure serving multiple communities, Caliber.Az reports, citing Iranian media.
“The drinking water distribution infrastructure, including two concrete reservoirs with capacities of 500 and 2,000 cubic meters and related mechanical equipment, intended for the city of Kuhestak and 10 villages in the Bamani district with a total population of 20,000 people, was destroyed as a result of attacks by the American enemy,” he noted.
He added that water supply to the affected areas has been suspended and that authorities are working on alternative supply options.
