Iran to launch multiple satellites, develop space capsules
Iran’s Space Agency head, Hassan Salarieh, has announced plans for a series of satellite launches and space vehicle developments by the end of the year.
The country is preparing to launch several key satellites and space launch vehicles, including the Simorgh and Optimized Simorgh satellites, as well as the Zoljanah and Qaem 100 launch vehicles, Caliber.Az reports, citing Iranian media.
These launches are set to take place in the Persian calendar year 1404 (2025–2026). While the Zafar and Paya satellites were initially slated for launch in 1403, their deployment has been postponed and will now occur in 1404.
Salarieh further revealed that Iran plans both test and operational launches for the Martyr Soleimani Satellite Constellation in 1404 and 1405. Additionally, the Nahid-2 satellite is expected to launch in 1404 using both domestic and international vehicles.
The first phase of the Chabahar Space Base, a major national infrastructure project, is projected to be completed by 1405.
Salarieh also shared that Iran is designing advanced biological capsules, including a 500 kg model and a larger 1,500 kg version capable of carrying a human into space. Alongside this, the country is constructing a one-ton satellite laboratory, with 60% of its infrastructure already completed.
