Iravan khan’s descendant says charmed by view of Mount Agridag from Nakhchivan
The best gift for my birthday was the view of Mount Agridag from Nakhchivan.
Report informs, citing Amir Ali Sardar Iravani, a descendant of the Iravan Khan.
“Iravan and Nakhchivan are separated from Azerbaijan. Nakhchivan is isolated from the rest of Azerbaijan. When we flew here by plane, we flew over Iravan (Yerevan) and Lake Goycha, and I looked at the native lands of my ancestors. It was a very beautiful and sad sight at the same time. Unfortunately, you can only get here by plane. I was looking for an opportunity to get here along the Zangazur corridor. But this is not yet possible. This time I arrived by plane, maybe next time I will be lucky enough to arrive in a different way,” the descendant of the Iravan Khan said.
He noted that Armenians invited him to Iravan several times:
“Of course, it would be nice to go to Iravan. But it would be very hard for me to see the destroyed houses of my ancestors. Therefore, the best gift for my birthday was to see Mount Agridag here in Nakhchivan, not far from Iravan. I felt how close I am to my ancestors. Once upon a time, my ancestors rode horses there and fought with enemies. It is a very nice feeling to be here."
The Iravan Khanate was one of the Azerbaijani states, Khanates, established in the wake of the collapse of Nadir-shah empire in the mid-XVIII century. Currently the territory of the Armenian Republic, until quite recently - early XIX century - was an Azerbaijani state of Iravan Khanate. The oldest indigenous population of this land was the aboriginal owners of the territory, the Azerbaijani Turks.
