Israel boosts air shield with successful David’s Sling missile tests VIDEO
On August 4, 2025, the Israeli Ministry of Defence announced the successful completion of a series of tests for the David's Sling air and missile defence system.
According to the Ministry's press service, the trials were carried out in collaboration with the US Missile Defence Agency and Rafael Advanced Defence Systems, which serves as the system’s primary contractor.
The tests were designed to replicate future threat scenarios, allowing Israel to broaden the operational capabilities of the David’s Sling system and enhance its performance in a variety of combat situations. The system underwent multiple live-fire trials, during which it demonstrated its effectiveness by intercepting a wide array of aerial threats.
David's Sling is engineered to counter short- and medium-range ballistic missiles, as well as guided missiles, cruise missiles, enemy aircraft, and drones. It plays a vital role in Israel's layered air defence network, working alongside other systems such as the Iron Dome, Arrow (Hetz), and the laser-based Iron Beam.
Defence Ministry officials described the successful test campaign as a significant advancement in strengthening Israel’s military preparedness, particularly in light of ongoing conflicts and the increasing complexity of regional threats.
