Israel buys 12 CH-53K heavy helicopters from US

The Israeli Ministry of Defence has purchased 12 units of CH-53K heavy military transport helicopters from the United States to replace the Yasur helicopters used by the Israeli Air Force.

The statement came from the press service of the Israeli Defence Ministry, TASS reports.

The ministry said that "Israel is the second country after the United States to purchase a heavy transport helicopter of this type."

"The process of producing helicopters for the Israeli Air Force will begin in the coming months," the press service added.
