French president urges Europe to prepare for dialogue with Russia on arms control
French President Emmanuel Macron has called on European nations to begin preparations for renewed dialogue with Russia, focusing on arms limitation and the restoration of mutual trust.
His remarks came in the wake of the recent NATO summit held in The Hague, Caliber.Az reports.
Addressing reporters, Macron emphasized the urgent need to reconsider the continent’s security architecture, particularly across the strategic expanse from the Black Sea to the Arctic.
Macron asserted that it was necessary to rethink the security architecture in the territories from the Black Sea to the Arctic, to assess the extent to which they were prepared to defend themselves and to consider the terms on which a dialogue with Russia regarding arms limitation and the restoration of trust could take place, emphasizing that this needed to be addressed immediately.
As European nations navigate a shifting geopolitical landscape marked by heightened military posturing and strained relations with Moscow, Macron’s appeal serves as a reminder that strategic conversations on arms control and confidence-building measures must not be deferred.
