Israel declares restricted area up to 4 kilometres from Lebanon border
15 October 2023 14:14
The Israel Defense Forces says it is “isolating the area” of up to 4 kilometres (2.5 miles) from the Lebanon border, instructing civilians not to enter.
“The IDF stresses that entering the area is strictly prohibited and asks the public to be vigilant and not enter the area,” the IDF says, according to The Times of Israel.
Meanwhile, residents living in communities up to 2 kilometres from the Lebanon border are ordered to remain close to bomb shelters until further notice.
The moves come following repeated attacks from Lebanon by the Hezbollah terror group and allied Palestinian factions.
The IDF also warns the public that it is jamming GPS services in the area, which may affect navigation applications.
