Israel destroys Hamas weapons depot, rocket launch shaft in northern Gaza VIDEO

Israeli forces destroyed a Hamas weapons depot and a rocket-launch shaft in northern Gaza overnight in what the military said was an effort to eliminate threats to troops and Israeli civilians, the Israeli military spokesperson said on May 19.

According to the statement, the weapons depot contained dozens of weapons, including more than 20 mortar bombs, launchers, explosive devices, Kalashnikov-style rifles and other combat equipment.

The Israeli military said the rocket-launch shaft and the weapons were intended to target Israeli forces operating in the so-called “Yellow Line” area as well as civilians in Israel, and were destroyed to remove the threat.

The military added that forces under the Southern Command remain deployed in the area in accordance with the agreement and will continue operations to eliminate any immediate threats.
