Israel foils drone-based weapon smuggling attempt from Egypt PHOTO

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced that it had successfully thwarted an attempt to smuggle weapons into Israel from Egypt using a drone overnight.

According to a statement released by the military, the drone was detected after it crossed the Israeli-Egyptian border and was subsequently downed by Israeli forces. Upon inspection, troops discovered that the unmanned aerial vehicle was transporting two assault rifles, Caliber.Az reports, citing Israeli media.

"In the past year, there have been frequent attempts to bring weapons and drugs over the Egyptian border using drones," the IDF said, highlighting a growing trend in cross-border smuggling operations utilizing unmanned aerial systems.
