Israel intercepts missile attack launched from Yemen
Overnight, the Israel Defence Forces successfully intercepted a missile launched from Yemen.
According to a statement posted on the Israeli army’s official Telegram channel, several sirens sounded across various regions in Israel before the interception.
“The Israeli Air Force intercepted a missile fired from Yemen after sirens were heard in multiple areas across Israel,” the message stated.
To recall, on the night of August 1, 2025, Israeli defence forces intercepted a ballistic missile launched from Yemen, which was reportedly fired by the Houthi movement. The missile triggered air raid sirens across several areas of Israel, including Jerusalem and central regions, but no casualties or damage were reported.
The Houthis, a Yemeni group involved in the ongoing civil conflict in Yemen and supported by Iran, have carried out multiple missile and drone launches towards Israel in recent months.
These actions have coincided with increased regional tensions following the outbreak of the Israel-Hamas conflict in late 2023. Israel has responded with airstrikes on Houthi-controlled sites, including strategic infrastructure such as Sanaa International Airport.
The Houthis state that their actions are in solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza and have declared intentions to continue targeting Israeli interests, including maritime traffic in the Red Sea.
Israel’s air defence systems, including Iron Dome and Arrow 3, have successfully intercepted a significant number of these missiles, preventing casualties and limiting damage.
