Israel's security chief visits Egypt for talks on Gaza
Israel’s Shin Bet chief David Zini visited Egypt on November 30 and met with Egyptian intelligence chief Hassan Rashad.
According to Detaly.co.il, this visit was his first foreign trip since assuming office.
The meeting focused on the Gaza Strip and negotiations on the second phase of the deal, a well-informed source said.
The Shin Bet stated: “We do not comment on the director’s work schedule.”
The visit aligns with intensified efforts to advance Phase 2 of the Trump administration's 20-point Gaza peace plan, announced on September 29, 2025, and implemented in Phase 1 on October 10. The plan, dubbed the "Deal of the Century 2.0," structures the truce in three phases: immediate ceasefire and exchanges (Phase 1), demilitarization and stabilization (Phase 2), and reconstruction (Phase 3). Phase 1 has held tenuously, with over 9,000 violations but no major escalations, enabling the release of 20 living hostages and pushing humanitarian aid to soar.
