Media: Ukraine’s top prosecutor leaves country overnight in official vehicle
Ukraine’s Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko left the country overnight in an official vehicle, law enforcement sources told Ukrainska Pravda.
Later, TASS reported that the Prosecutor General confirmed the information about his departure from the country.
“I am currently on a foreign business trip, during which a number of meetings have been scheduled. At these meetings, I intend to inform international partners about the real state of affairs in the anti-corruption agencies, signs of the concentration of uncontrolled influence by these agencies, and the risks that such a practice poses to state sovereignty, the rule of law and democratic institutions,” Kravchenko said.
Kravchenko’s departure came amid a dispute with Ukraine’s anti-corruption agencies, which described his accusations as “a continuation of a systematic attack on independent anti-corruption bodies.”
“As of now, no suspicion has been officially served on NABU Director Semen Kryvonos. NABU has also not seized any criminal proceedings referred to in the Prosecutor General’s statements. All claims that NABU allegedly seized such proceedings are untrue,” the agencies said in a statement.
