Israel strengthens air, ground forces in Golan Heights amid Syrian tensions
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) are strengthening their air and ground units in the Golan Heights region due to the evolving situation in Syria.
"IDF is prepared for any developments in both offensive and defensive operations. A decision has been made to reinforce air and ground forces in the Golan Heights area amid the situation assessment carried out by the IDF General Staff and the Northern Command, as well as the ongoing internal conflict in Syria," Caliber.Az reports, citing the IDF.
"The IDF is closely monitoring the ongoing events and is ready for any developments, both in offense and defense," the statement says.
The army emphasised that it would not allow any threats near the Israeli border and would act to neutralise any danger to the citizens of Israel. The military noted that IDF units are deployed in the border zone, increasing their readiness and combat capability in preparation for various potential scenarios.
The IDF is operating in the southwest of Lebanon, continuing to dismantle Hezbollah’s infrastructure, neutralise armed militants, and eliminate other threats in the region. Israeli forces have discovered and destroyed numerous rocket launchers and detonated weapon storage depots. The IDF emphasised that it is conducting operations in accordance with the agreements between Israel and Lebanon, while respecting the terms of the ceasefire.
