Israel warns of escalating costs for Lebanon over Hezbollah activity
Israel Katz warned that Lebanon would face growing consequences for the actions of Hezbollah, including potential damage to the national infrastructure used by the group.
According to The Times of Israel, Katz made the remarks after the Israel Defence Forces carried out a strike earlier on Friday on a bridge over the Litani River. The Israeli military said Hezbollah had used the bridge to move fighters from northern to southern parts of Lebanon.
“This is only the beginning, and the Lebanese government and state will pay an increasingly heavy price for the damage caused to Lebanon’s national infrastructure used by Hezbollah terrorists,” Katz said.
The statement was delivered during a meeting with the Chief of the General Staff of the Israel Defence Forces, Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir, and senior Israeli military commanders.
