Israeli air defence intercepts missile launched from Yemen
Israel's air defence systems successfully intercepted a missile launched from Yemen earlier January 3.
The missile, which triggered air raid sirens in central and southern Israel, was identified as crossing into Israeli territory before being targeted by interceptors. The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) provided an update on the situation via their official Telegram channel, Caliber.Az reports.
"Following the sirens that sounded in central and southern Israel, one missile was identified crossing from Yemen into Israeli territory. Interceptors were launched toward the target, the results are under review," the IDF stated.
The missile interception resulted in shrapnel falling in the area of Modi'in, located in central Israel. The IDF confirmed the incident, noting that the details of the interception were still being reviewed.
"Following the sirens that sounded a short while ago in central and southern Israel, a missile that was launched from Yemen and crossed into Israeli territory was intercepted. A report was received regarding shrapnel from the interception that fell in the area of Modi'in in central Israel. The details are under review," the IDF added.
