Israeli airstrike hits village near Homs following Damascus attack

On November 11, Syrian state media reported an Israeli strike on a village near the city of Homs, following a deadly attack on a building in the Damascus area the previous day.

The state news agency SANA described the incident as an "Israeli aggression" targeting the "surroundings of the Shinshar region, south of Homs," Caliber.Az reports. 

Meanwhile, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that the strike was aimed at a Hezbollah munitions warehouse.

Additionally, the main Homs-Damascus highway was temporarily closed following the strike, which targeted an aid distribution centre for displaced Lebanese south of Homs.

Notably, an Israeli airstrike on a residential building in the Sayeda Zainab district, located south of the Syrian capital, Damascus, resulted in the deaths of seven civilians on November 10, according to the Syrian Defence Ministry. This marks the second incident of its kind within a week.

The ministry's statement reported that the casualties included women and children, with 20 others injured.

Israel has not yet commented on the attack. Last week, it stated that its air force targeted intelligence facilities belonging to the Iranian-backed Lebanese group Hezbollah in the same region.
