Israeli FM criticises Russia at UK-convened meeting on Middle East Video
Israel’s Foreign Minister Gideon Saar sharply criticised Russia’s envoy during a recent international meeting convened by the United Kingdom to discuss the situation in the Middle East, accusing Moscow of hypocrisy over its remarks on international law and territorial integrity.
According to Israeli officials, the Russian ambassador to the United Nations used his address to speak about international law, occupation and the annexation of territories by Israel, as well as the need for peaceful conflict resolution, Caliber.Az feports per Israeli media.
In response, Saar said he found it ironic to hear the representative of the Russian Federation lecture others on international law and territorial issues, given Russia’s own actions. He remarked that he had struggled to refrain from laughing during the speech, describing the comments as inconsistent with realities on the ground.
The United Kingdom convened the meeting as part of diplomatic efforts to address escalating instability in the Middle East.
