Israeli FM: Pashinyan demonstrated leadership pushing regional peace with Azerbaijan
Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar has congratulated Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and his Civil Contract Party following their victory in Armenia’s parliamentary elections, praising his role in advancing regional peace efforts.
In a post on X page, Sa’ar wrote:
“We congratulate the PM of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan and the Civil Contract Party on the victory in the Armenian parliamentary elections. PM Pashinyan has demonstrated leadership by advancing his country towards peace and reconciliation with Azerbaijan, which will promote regional stability and cooperation.”
Preliminary results from Armenia’s Central Election Commission show three political forces have entered parliament following the vote.
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s Civil Contract Party secured 49.825% of the vote, giving it a clear simple majority.
The Strong Armenia bloc, led by Russian businessman Samvel Karapetyan, won 23.281%, while the Armenia bloc of former President Robert Kocharyan received 9.934%.
Voter turnout was reported at 58.97%.
