Armenia announces deadline for challenging election results
The Central Election Commission (CEC) of Armenia has published the timetable for appealing the results of the parliamentary elections held in the country on June 7.
It said an application for a recount of voting results at a polling station may be submitted to the relevant district election commission from 12:00 to 18:00 on June 8, or from 09:00 to 11:00 on June 9, Caliber.Az reports.
According to the CEC, the application may be submitted by a candidate included in the electoral list, their representative, or a member of the polling station election commission.
It added that within the same timeframe, requests to invalidate voting results at polling stations may also be submitted by political parties, party coalitions, candidates on electoral lists, their representatives, or election commission members.
Preliminary CEC results showed three political forces have entered parliament following the election.
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s Civil Contract party won 49.825% of the vote.
The Strong Armenia bloc, led by Russian businessman Samvel Karapetyan, received 23.281%, while the Armenia bloc of former President Robert Kocharyan received 9.934%.
Voter turnout stood at 58.97%.
Pashinyan’s party secured a simple majority in parliament, allowing it to form a government independently and appoint the prime minister.
